Thanks community!

We’ve received lots of interesting, and sometimes constructively critical, comments on our map of the U.S. political webosphere. As we’re still at the Personal Democracy Forum, we haven’t had time to factor in everything but thank you all. We have simply corrected a graphing error for Andrew’s Sullivan presence on the map. We actually had two websites for him, on both sides of the political spectrum. This has been amended and http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/ is now the sole remaining website, slightly in the progressive community…

    Maybe this reveals my shocking ignorance of something or other, but what’s an “infopit”? Maybe an explanation or link for the term could be added on the map page?

    @jennica
    Sorry but http://officeofstrategicinfluence.com/ did not make it to the top 4,000 political websites in our database (again, our measure of influence is based on the number of links a website receives from websites that deal with a topic at hand, politics for PW08. However I don’t want to plainly rule out a material mistake, we’ll look into this.

    @chris
    Dailykos sits well and big in the Liberal community on our map (it’s categorized as a Liberal infopit)

    @Shelby
    No ignorance on your side ;-) Infopit is a notion we recently coined to better reflect the merger of tradional MSM webistes and social media websites in a category of influential players that clearly set the agenda that others are going to discuss, debate and dissect. Infopit stands for “information pit”, or a mine of information, either raw or refined. I’ll write a post about that, in the meantime you can have a look at the map keys (top-of-the-screen navbar).
